The cutest picnic engagement session

Brittany and Kyle’s Picnic Engagement Session in Saint Albert

What do you get when you bring together an adorable picnic, a sweet Edmonton summer night, and a couple that’s so very in love? This engagement session, that’s what!

Brittany and Kyle organized a lavish picnic, complete with treats from the Duchess Bake Shop, flowers, lemonade, and snacks. Those macarons made a perfect setting for a shot of Brittany’s lovely engagement ring!

Another great idea was the chalkboard style sign they included, which had their 2016 wedding date written on it perfect for sending out as a save the-date. I love when couples find a way to include some of their story in their photos, and Brittany and Kyle did that by bringing along a few books to include in the picnic setup. You may notice a brown book with the title, “RX-7.” That’s a little detail that shows one of their shared passions, and a tribute to how they first met: shortly after getting her car, Brittany visited the local RX-7 car club, where she first met Kyle when he went out of his way to make her feel welcome.

After their car club meeting, it wasn’t long until their romance began to grow. Brittany says that from early on in their relationship, she knew they had something great going on when they “just felt extremely comfortable around each other from very early on when dating. Kyle never missed an opportunity to tell me how special I am to him, which is what every girl wants, is it not?!”

Although she guessed that Kyle was about to pop the question with some ‘not so subtle’ ring questions, she says that on the day of the proposal she wasn’t expecting anything. That is, until Kyle said he wanted to go for a drive to see the sunset… which made Brittany “suspicious enough to put on some make up!” However they got lost on the drive, and ended up missing the sunset completely. After a change of plans and a half hour of sitting by the river, Brittany lost hope that a proposal was coming that night and suggested that they head home. However, that was just when Kyle made his move! He got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, along with a typed copy of what he wanted to say… Brittany says “it was surreal and I can’t remember a word of it!” The best part she said “yes,” of course! Congratulations on your engagement, Brittany and Kyle, it was my pleasure to photograph your session and I wish you guys lots of love.
