THE BRIDE AND GROOM
Since I had met Karolina, I could not wait to photograph her and Barry’s wedding. We met while she was one of the bridesmaids for Jessie and David‘s wedding also in Calgary back in 2015.
Barry and Karolina met in the summer of 2008 through Karolina’s cousin, and Barry’s good friend and groomsman Arthur Chyc-Cies. They were all planning a camping trip that summer and Barry asked Arthur “Do you think your pretty cousin will come?” referring to Karolina. She did in fact attend, and from that moment on they were inseparable for the entire five days of the trip. They told me that they both remember being quite nervous on their last night, worrying that if they didn’t have a heart-to-heart their relationship would end as quickly as it had started. The thought of something that felt so special, so unique, being over after that moment, was terrifying. It is so special that on that short camping trip they quickly found in one another all the things they had ever wanted.
THE WEDDING DAY
When it came time to plan their wedding they knew that their love for the mountains and food would be at the forefront, so it was important that they pick somewhere with amazing food. When they first walked into The Lake House, they both knew that was it. With its rustic décor, they felt like they were in the mountains, even though they were in the suburbs of Calgary. It fit them perfectly.
I was so honoured to capture their special day and I can’t wait for you to take a look through the amazing images that were captured that day.
